Dr Neil Hudson

Neil Hudson MA VetMB PhD DEIM DipVetClinStud PFHEA FRCVS is a Veterinary Surgeon and Senior Veterinary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. Neil qualified from the University of Cambridge Veterinary School and has worked in mixed veterinary practice in England in Essex, Hertfordshire and Surrey. He completed an internship at the University of Sydney. He has a PhD in Equine Gastroenterology and is an RCVS Diplomate in Equine Internal Medicine. A former Admissions Tutor, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons for his research on veterinary undergraduate admissions. His research includes gastroenterology (including colic and postoperative ileus in horses), veterinary medical education (including admissions, students as teachers). As part of widening access, Neil regularly takes students into schools to lead workshops in science and veterinary medicine to inspire school pupils and affirm the importance of science to them. In 2019 Neil was recognised by the Higher Education Academy as a Principal Fellow (PFHEA). In 2001, Neil spent a period as a Veterinary Inspector during the Foot and Mouth crisis. He has been a Conservative Candidate in the 2005 and 2010 General Elections.
